Faribault Council Discusses Possible New Community Center
The Faribault City Council traveled to the local National Guard Armory near the Liz Wall Strohfus airport Tuesday afternoon.
Mayor Kevin Voracek joined KDHL during the 8:05 a.m. News Report to inform us about their retreat which went into the early evening after starting at 1:00 p.m.

There will undoubtedly be a lot more discussion about the possibility of constructing a new Community Center somewhere in Faribault.
We would love to have your thoughts on what should be included or if one should even be built at all.
A lot of people I've visited with over the years from other communities are a bit envious of the gem that is the Buckham Center with the Library, Recreation Center and Buckham West (Senior Center) all on the same campus.
That goes away if you build the recreation part of the complex someplace else.
The Mayor cited the "dying pool" as the main reason the topic has come up. Couldn't they place a new pool in the current building?
Utilizing a local option sales tax to help pay for it means people visiting Faribault will pitch in so the entire burden doesn't fall on property taxpayers.
If the State Legislature approved Faribault's request the matter would be voted upon by taxpayers
A proposal for a similar facility was made in Faribault during the November 2017 General Election that was soundly defeated.
Unfortunately or fortunately depending on your desire most of us are not on this list.
