Faribault Community Thanksgiving Moved to Eagles Club

Organizers Laura and Travis McColley stopped by KDHL to to give details about the event on AM Minnesota.

The biggest change is the event will be held at the Faribault Eagles Club this year located on Highway 60 west, 2027 Grant Street in Faribault.

You might recall last year initially there was going to be a take out and delivery only option but even that was cancelled due to COVID-19.

Laura says the fact there are vaccines currently available means they should be able to have both the dine-in and delivery of meals on Thanksgiving Day.

You be the judge if you feel comfortable being around a number of people or not. If you don't feel well you are asked to stay home. Masks will be strongly encouraged when you are not engaged in eating at the Eagles.

Meal preparation is the same as previous years. No signup sheets, just show up and help. It's worked since it all began approximately 35 years ago.

Volunteers are needed to assist beginning Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. at the Faribault Eagles. Peeling and chopping potatoes, preparing vegetables, deboning turkey and setting up the dining area

Volunteers are also needed Thursday, November 25, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. to provide: Meal preparation, meal delivery, serving meals and cleaning up Faribault Eagles following the event.

Vounteers are also needed on Thanksgiving Day to deliver meals to homes requesting them beginning 10:00 a.m. (Volunteers please bring a box or basket to help with carrying meals)

Volunteers will also wait on the tables with the meal served at the Eagles between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Meals are served until supplies run out.

Home delivery requests for meals must be made by 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 23, 2021 by phoning Buckham West 332-7357.

Monetary donations will help offset any costs associated with the event. Cash, Checks payable to Faribault Foundation will be accepted.

Non-perishable food items donated will go to the Faribault Food Shelf.
