Famous Breakfast Restaurant In Minnesota Is Losing Its Presence
In its heyday, Perkins was the place to be. Now, it seems the Ohio-founded chain's presence dwindles by the day.
In the past couple of years, numerous Perkins have locked their Minnesota doors for good with the latest closures in the Twin Cities and along the North Shore.
According to WDIO, earlier this month, the Perkins next to Miller Hill Mall in Duluth (1302 Miller Trunk Highway) closed after 37 years in business. In addition, this past weekend, the Maplewood community forfeited their Perkins location at 1829 N. St. Paul Road after four decades of operation.
These two closures top off the loss of the 50-year-old Edina location (4917 Eden Ave), which closed at the beginning of the month to make way for a 196-unit apartment building.
Patrons can find Perkins in over 32 states. However, about 16% of the chain's nearly 300 locations are found in Minnesota, which is one of the highest rates in the country, according to Bring Me The News.
As of today, less than 50 Perkins remain in the Land of 10,000 Lakes, and it seems that more may close in the future.
