It's going to be a very busy few months at a popular eastern Iowa restaurant and bar that's also become known for bringing great country music shows to town.
Wild Hogs Saloon and Eatery in Walford has announced they'll be welcoming four popular country music acts late in the winter, next spring, and summer. As a matter of fact, there are four shows in five months on the schedule.
First up is Lorrie Morgan, who hits the stage on Friday, March 25 along with her son Jesse Keith Whitley. The 90s country star topped the country charts three times with "Five Minutes", "I Didn't Know My Own Strength", and "What Part of No". She has 11 other songs that reached the top 10.
Lorrie and Jesse are in the 2019 photo below, at the exhibit for Lorrie's late husband, Keith Whitley, at the Country Music Hall of Fame. At far right in the photo is Lorrie's daughter Morgan, who was adopted by Keith.
Friday, April 8, the duo of Howard and David Bellamy, known as the Bellamy Brothers, will perform in Walford. During a career that's spanned more than four decades, the Bellamy Brothers had ten number one songs from 1976 through 1987. They include "Let Your Love Flow", "If I Said You Had a Beautiful Body", "Do You Love as Good as You Look", "I Need More of You", and "Kids of the Baby Boom". The duo had 16 other songs reach the Top 10. I was surprised to learn they're not in the Country Music Hall of Fame. I expect that someday that will happen. Hopefully soon.
The following month, Joe Nichols makes his way to Wild Hogs for a show on Sunday, May 29. He's stood at the peak of the country music charts six times in his career with "Brokenheartsville", "Tequila Made Her Clothes Fall Off", and "Gimme That Girl" among his number one songs. Nichols also landed in the top ten with four other songs.
Thursday, July 14, Neal McCoy will perform in Walford. An electric live performer, Neal has had 10 top ten hits and a pair of number one songs, "No Doubt About It" and "Wink". One of the other unique features of Neal's career is the fact he does the Pledge of Allegiance live on his Facebook page each morning. He's been doing it for nearly six years. Today was the 2177th consecutive day he's recited it. He announced January 7, 2022 will mark six years.
