Donut Tell Stewartville Students How to Raise Money for a Family in Need
Some Stewartville Students found a super sweet way to help a family and make a HUGE point at the same time…eating their way to safety. Big love to the Stewartville National Honor Society! Yesterday morning while we were begging for more sleep and buckets of coffee, they were up and at school, preparing to help an area family mourning the loss of family in a car crash.
They were raising money to help the family of Rachel and Emerson Harberts, who died as a result of a traffic crash back in September.
A recent traffic wreck near Claremont has claimed another life....The September 7th wreck hurt 43-year-old Rachel Harberts of Dodge Center, who has now died. Her 8-year-old daughter Emerson died at the scene of the wreck while her 12-year-old son Jaxon suffered life-threatening injuries. A third child is still recovering. Their car was rear-ended by a Hummer driven by a Dodge Center man with a history of driving offenses. See the whole story here.
The cause of the crash was reported as phone-related distracted driving, so the students named the fundraiser, "Donut Drive Distracted" (a really great name, by the way). 100% of the money raised goes to the Harberts family. I want to give some love to The Pastry Shoppe in Lanesboro...they donated over 650 donuts!
