St Louis (KROC AM News)  Jose Berrios was sharp Tuesday as he fanned eight St Louis batters over five innings and helped the Twins knock off the Cardinals 7-3 in the first game of a doubleheader.

Nelson Cruz and Josh Donaldson each homered. Cruz hit another homer in the 2nd game but it wasn’t enough as they lost 6-4. But it did put Cruz into the team's history books. He became only the second Twin (Harmon Killebrew was the other) to go yard in both games of three doubleheaders in one season.

The Twins are currently half a game out of first, trailing both Chicago and Cleveland. The Twins open a three games series against the Indians Friday at Target Field and then go to Chicago for a four-game series.
