The Vikings announced about two weeks ago that there wouldn't be fans in the stands for at least the first two home games of the 2020 season. It was a bummer, but with the Governor's emergency order limiting events to 250 people or less, it wouldn't make sense for the Vikings to open up the doors to US Bank Stadium. Today, the Vikings announced another way for fans to be in the stands for Vikings home games, cardboard cutouts with all the funds raised going to charity.

In an email to Viking's ticket holders this morning the football club announced it was teaming up with Caribou Coffee for it's "Fans in the Stands" promotion. Each cutout costs $150 with limited capacity for placement in the stadium. According to the email:

100% of net proceeds will go to support charitable causes in our community. Opportunity to keep your cutout after the season. Limited quantity available. Order by Wednesday, September 9th at 10:00 a.m. CST to guarantee placement for Home Opener against the Packers!

All you have to do is take a high-resolution photo of yourself in your Vikings gear and submit it to the team to be placed in the endzones for the season. Who knows maybe you'll see yourself on Sunday against the Packers?

Other sports teams have embraced the cardboard cutouts with sporting events limiting or eliminating fans all together this season due to COVID-19. The Twins have used a type of 'fat-head' behind home plate, with who is featured being rotated for series at home.
