Owatonna residents filled the streets with school spirit Friday afternoon for the annual homecoming parade. Mother Nature did her part with skies in a brilliant shade of blue.

More than 40 parade floats streamed through downtown Owatonna to celebrate homecoming. The Owatonna High School marching band performed. The cheerleaders did some of their chants. Each fall sports team put together a float, although some of the boys cross country runners missed the parade while running the game ball from New Prague for the football game that night. Teams created various designs that centered around the theme of beating the Trojans. The football team responded with a resounding 52-0 victory that evening.

The robotics team, FFA, SHOC (Students Helping Others Choose), DECA and the senior class tailgaters were among the other clubs creating floats. The homecoming king and queen candidates rode in convertibles. Young Life director Chuck Jamison was the Grand Marshall.

Maria Golberg and Austin Abbas were crowned homecoming royalty early in the week. Homecoming wrapped up with the dance Saturday night.

Fall sports transition to the post season with the start of the girls' tennis section tournament on Tuesday. Owatonna will host Austin at 4PM. The soccer teams and the football squad are entering their final week of the regular season.
