Mankato East put scored six runs in the first inning and beat Owatonna 10-2 Thursday at Thomas Park in Mankato. The Huskies held the Cougars to one run over the next four innings and even set them down 1-2-3 once. East added three in the sixth.

The Huskies had base runners in each of the first two innings, but had two of them thrown out stealing. Paris Hovden doubled in the fourth and scored on Samantha Bogen's RBI double. Ana LaDuke smashed a solo homerun in the sixth inning.

OHS coach Jeremy Moran said highlights included "Alyssa Ringhofer with a couple of great catches in right field including a diving catch down the right field line." Hovden tossed six innings. The Huskies play at Farmington Friday, April 16 at 5 pm with coverage on AM 1390 KRFO and 94.7 FM. The Tigers won the Section 1AAAA title in 2019, but OHS beat them during the regular season 2-0.

Owatonna baseball beat East Thursday at Fuller Field at Dartt's Park 7-5. Grant Achterkirch had a two-run double late in the game and pitched in the seventh inning. OHS (2-1) hosts Austin Tuesday, April 20.
