Caught on Video: Bald Eagle Takes a Bath in Minnesota
People from other parts of the country are always in awe when they come to our neck of the woods and see bald eagles for the first time. We’re lucky enough here in southeast Minnesota to see them all the time! They’re amazing animals. But even here in Minnesota, we don’t see this often: a bald eagle taking a bath! A woman from Robbinsdale, Minnesota caught just that on video earlier today and it’s pretty crazy to watch.
We’re used to seeing little birds take baths in our birdbaths like robins and red-winged blackbirds, but I’ve never thought about the fact that big birds like bald eagles might also want to take a bath every now and then. Do you think they sell birdbaths big enough for raptors? Ok, I guess probably not.
In this video that was sent to WCCO by Shaila of Robbinsdale, the bald eagle looks like he’s having a great time splashing around in the water. It kind of looks like he’s swimming with how his wings are moving. I’ve never seen anything like this before! I’ve seen plenty of bald eagles circling overhead hunting for food but never having a great old time taking a bath. He moves at a really good speed through the water, too, check it out.
Ok, let’s be honest, even though we see bald eagles a lot, they’re still pretty amazing animals to watch.
