Leave a message at the tone because I'm #GoneFishing!

(Unfortunately, that's not true. I am not gone fishing. Instead, I'm sitting in my office dreaming about going fishing.)

This doesn't have to be you! This Saturday and Sunday from 11 am- 4 pm, you and your family can 'discover' the joy of fishing at Bass Pro Shops in Owatonna, Woodbury, or Rogers.

This nationwide movement, 'Gone Fishing,' was created by Bass Pro Shops founder Johnny Morris in hopes of challenging families to ditch their mobile devices and get outside to discover new hobbies, primarily fishing.

In honor of the movement, many Bass Pro Shops and Cabela's across the country are hosting free activities this upcoming weekend.

Highlights For The Saturday and Sunday Event:

  • Free Catch-And-Release Ponds/Casting Challenge- Kids can test their fishing skills and earn a Fishing League Worldwide (FLW)  "First Fish Certificate."
  • Free Fishing 101 Guide- Free copies of 'Nibbles & Bites,' which teaches the fundamentals of fishing and provides insight to the best local fishing spot, will be available.
  • Free Take-Home Crafts And Giveaways

Most Visited State Parks In Minnesota: Is Your Favorite in the List?

Minnesota has 66 beautiful state parks. The parks have an average of 9,700,000 visitors each year. Interestingly enough, nearly 19% of park visitors come from other states and countries, according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. Now, my favorite State Park is Jay Cooke in Carlton, MN, but it did not break into the top 5.
