Bonus Baseball for Owatonna VFW at this Historic Field
Owatonna baseball fans get a treat on Tuesday, August 3. The VFW squad will play a game against Elk River at 6:30 pm at historic Memorial Field in Dundas. The game is scheduled to go nine innings. The Owatonna baseball Twitter account reports the concession stand will be open as well.
The VFW Post 3723 team is tuning up for the state tournament which begins Thursday, August 12 in Austin. Owatonna finished second in District 1 to advance to state.

OHS grad Kodey Kiel was part of St. Mary's postseason baseball championship this past spring, their first-ever such MAIC title. For the Kiel family, however, winning titles is nothing new. His mom and dad and brother have all been part of various title teams.
OHS grad Alec Holcomb brings his baseball expertise and a couple of his friends to Fuller Field at Dartt's Park for pitching and hitting clinics. Holcomb played Division I baseball at NDSU and pitched in the Northwoods League.
Owatonna High School baseball has had the occasion to play at Memorial Field in Dundas as the photo above from 2016 shows with a playoff win. Dundas will host the state amateur tournament in 2022 along with Faribault and Miesville.
The bracket is set for the Region 5C amateur baseball playoffs. Games are in Cannon Falls August 7 & 8 and in Red Wing August 13 & 14. The first round features No. 1 seed Wanamingo vs No. Dodge County Saturday, August 7 at 10 am. No. 4 Cannon Falls faces No. 5 Hastings at 1 pm. No. 2 Red Wing battles No. 7 Austin at 4 pm. And No. 3 Rochester meets No. 6 Stewartville-Racine at 7 pm.
