The Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms are the #1 seed in Section 1A which opens play with one game Tuesday to determine the opponent for the top seed.  #16 Rushford-Peterson (3-22) hosts #17 Leroy-Ostrander (0-25).  The winner goes to Blooming Prairie (18-5) Thursday.

Faribault Bethlehem Academy (6-20) is the #15 seed which gives them a date with #2 seed Fillmore Central (18-8) in Harmony.  Houston (20-6) is #3 seed hosts #14 Spring Grove (6-20).  #4 seed Hayfield (14-11) entertains #13 Schaeffer Academy (7-19).

#5 Kingsland (17-9) has #12 Lyle-Pacelli (6-19) visit Spring Valley.  #6 Grand Meadow (16-9) hosts #11 Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons (8-13).  #10 Lanesboro (9-17) is at #7 Southland (11-11).  #8 Mabel-Canton (10-15) sees #9 Randolph (12-14) in Cougars gym.

Thursday winners don't go to the Rochester Mayo Civic Center for quarterfinal action this year.  Upper bracket quarterfinal victors play Monday, February 24 at Rochester Century High School.

The other two quarterfinal games are played same night at Rochester Lourdes High School.

Semifinal action is Saturday, February 29 at 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. at the Mayo Civic Center.  The championship will be Thursday, March 5 at 6:00 p.m.

With Goodhue in Class 2A now it will be interesting to see what team prevails.  Blooming Prairie and Fillmore Central are the only teams ranked by Minnesota Basketball News in the section.

The Awesome Blossoms are #8.  Fillmore Central is #20 in the latest state rankings.
