Big Highway 52 Project North of Rochester Postponed

Zumbrota, MN (KROC-AM News) -
A forecast calling for rain, possibly mixed with a little snow at times, has prompted the Minnesota Department of Transportation to delay the resumption of the Highway 52 reconstruction project north of Rochester.
The work was scheduled to begin on Monday, affecting traffic from Zumbrota to Cannon Falls, but the wet weather forecast has prompted MnDOT to wait a few days before resuming the project. At this point, MnDOT is anticipating construction work on a stretch of the busy highway to get underway later in the week.
This will be the second year of work on the project, which is not expected to be completed until next year. This year's schedule includes the construction of a new interchange at the junction of Highway 52 and Highway 57 at Hader and the replacement of the Highway 60 East Bridge over Highway 52 just south of Zumbrota. MnDOT says motorists can expect traffic delays, especially during busy travel periods, due to traffic being reduced to a single lane in each direction throughout parts of the construction zone.
