Bethlehem Academy Boys Basketball Pulls Away From JWP
The Faribault Bethlehem Academy Cardinals scored 43 points in the second half Friday night in a 72-48 win over the Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton Bulldogs. The Cardinals had a 29-26 halftime lead. Ball movement appeared to be the key. Bethlehem Academy finished the game with 18 assists while the Bulldogs had 8.
Senior Damon Trump led all scorers with 20 points, adding 8 assists and 7 rebounds. Classmate Jack Clark added 15 points, 3 assists, 3 rebounds. Freshman Brady Strodtman provided some spark for the second consecutive night finishing with 14 points on 4 of 7 shooting. The Cardinals were 7 of 14 from three point range, but struggled at the free throw line going 5 for 11.
J-W-P was 4 of 6 from the charity stripe, 6 of 15 from beyond the arc and shot 52 percent from the game. However they had 24 fewer shots and 10 less field goals than Bethlehem Academy. According to Cardinals statistics the Bulldogs had 29 rebounds and they had 27.
The win evened Bethlehem Academy's record (5-5) . Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton is 2-7 and has lost six straight. The Bulldogs are at Madelia Monday. The Cardinals go to New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva.
