Medford junior Willie VonRuden had another double-digit strikeout performance to lead the Tigers to a 3-1 baseball victory Monday in a game moved to Reese Field in New Richland due to conditions in Medford. VonRuden, who had a 14-strikeout day against Kenyon-Wanamingo recently, gave up just one hit, one walk and no earned runs.

NRHEG coach Drew Paukert said, "Both teams exchanged run in the first inning...Medford was able to capitolize in the top half of the fifth with two straight walks followed by a single and an error to plate the go ahead runs."

Medford (4-1) plays at WEM Thursday. The Panthers (1-3) hosts JWP Tuesday in a makeup game.

NRHEG softball topped Medford 14-4 in five innings Monday at Janesville. The game was moved to the Bulldogs' artificial surface due to conditions in Medford and New Richland. Freshman Sophie Stork gave up just three hits and two earned runs. She also had a double and triple, drove in three runs and stole a pair of bases.

Panthers' coach Wendy Schultz said, "Good team win. Cloie Arndt continues to be a terror at the plate going 4-for-4 and hitting two doubles." The sophomore had three RBI. NRHEG (3-1) is scheduled to host Blooming Prairie Thursday. Medford (0-5) entertains WEM Thursday.

Blooming Prairie softball dropped an 8-2 decision to WEM Monday. The Bucs outhit the Blossoms 10-3 and overcame six errors. BP got hits from Maggie Bruns, Maren Forystek and Julia Worke. Blooming Prairie hosts Maple River Tuesday.

WEM beat the Awesome Blossom baseball nine 13-1 in five innings. BP committed six errors, leading to several unearned runs. Blooming Prairie hosts Maple River Tuesday.
