If you're a big gymnastics fan like I am, perhaps you watched the U.S. Gymnastics Championships that ran from June 3rd-6th in Fort Worth, Texas.

If you didn't, here are the big takeaways:

  • Simone Biles is even more impressive and powerful than she was in the 2016 Summer Olympics.
  • Suni Lee, a Minnesota resident, is a fierce artistic gymnastic who has found A LOT of success leading up to this year's Olympic Games.
  • Grace McCallum, another Minnesota resident, is as light as a feather on the balance beam.

Suni Lee placed second in the all-around competition, losing to Simone Biles. Lee's home gym is Midwest Gymnastics Center in Little Canada, MN. Lee took gold on the uneven bars and silver on the balance beam.

Earlier this year, Lee was the uneven bars champion and balance beam silver medalist in the 2021 Winter Cup. Her success looks very promising.

Grace McCallum placed seventh in the all-around competition, but took the bronze on the balance beam. McCallum's home gym is Twin Cities Twisters.

I'm very hopeful these ladies will secure a spot on the four-person gymnastics team. Though, the stakes are high.

The U.S. Olympic Team Trials are June 24th-27th in St. Louis, Mo. I'll be rooting for our two Minnesota champions!

The Summer Olympics will begin on Friday, July 23rd, and run through Sunday, August 8th.
