Traffic Crash Near Albert Lea Kills 12-Year-Old Boy

Wells, MN (KROC AM News) - The State Patrol is investigating a fatal traffic crash that happened late Monday night in southern Minnesota.
A pickup truck was eastbound on I-90 around 11:30 pm when it went into the left ditch, crossed both lanes of traffic and then rolled in the south ditch.
The truck was driven by 48-year-old Kyle Backhaus of Des Moines, Iowa. He suffered life-threatening injuries. A 12-year-old boy from Des Moines died at the scene. His name has not been released.
Both were wearing seatbelts.
The crash happened 30 miles west of Albert Lea.
