Katie Godfrey has stepped down from her post as the Tourism Director for the Owatonna Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism for a position with the Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation, which is based in Owatonna. The Chamber's weekly email newsletter reported the news.

Godfrey has been in her position for three years and said in the newsletter, "My time at the chamber has been filled with working with great people who are passionate about Owatonna's future. It's been an honor to work with all of you and I hope we will stay in touch."

Owatonna Chamber president Brad Meier commented, "Katie has had a tremendous impact on attracting tourism to Owatonna. She will be missed here at the chamber, but we are excited that she will still be working in the community for a great organization."

Godfrey's final day with the chamber will be December 19. Meier indicates that a search for a replacement will start immediately.

The Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation is a "regional development and philanthropic organization that fosters economic and community vitality in 20 counties of southern Minnesota through a culture of collaboration and partnership," according to their website.
