There’s A Go Kart Track On The Ice In Minnesota + It’s Now Open For A Short Time
How awesome would this be? You can race a go-kart on ice in Minnesota. The season is super short, so you'll want to make sure you book immediately.
This place is located in Stillwater, Minnesota. It's nice that it's located in central Minnesota and not too far from many people.
The track is operated by Epic Kart Racing, and they have a very short, limited season. They are open primarily now on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. They may add more hours if demand requires it.
Who can ride?
The minimum requirements are that you can reach the pedals and the steering wheel, you are at least 4 foot 10 inches tall, and at least 12 years old.
How much does it cost?
The cost per driver is $79.95. There's a link where you can sign up online.
How long do you get on the track?
Epic Karting says to expect an hour for your experience which includes gearing up and safety training. The actual time on the track is 20 minutes. Which, if you think about it is a pretty good chunk of time for running a go-kart. Also, would you really want to experience the windchill for much longer than that?
What do I need to bring to ride?
You're supposed to dress like you are going snowmobiling or tubing. You also have to have a full-face helmet, and they do rent those and goggles on-site.
When does the season start?
It's underway right now for booking for people who signed up for early access. General public booking will begin on February 10.
They got a lot of press last year. Twin Cities live visited the track and did a run themselves. Looks like it was fun, but a little scary!
