The Bold Enjoy the Cold in Owatonna
Before it got really cold in Owatonna, it was Bold and Cold. The last weekend in January, with fairly mild temperatures, was the feature weekend for the promotion. Snow sculptures took over Central Park with dueling dragons (sort of) and a really large chair to sit in and take in the scene (though I don't believe you are supposed to climb onto the sculptures).
The Owatonna Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism (OACCT) reports in their weekly e-newsletter Tuesday Talk, "The January results for the 'Bold & Cold Winter Activities Worth a Weekend Trip" campaign hit above industry standards and reached over 279K people." Click here for the results.
Owatonna Parks and Recreation hosted a sledding day on Saturday, January 30 and an ice fishing day for families on Sunday, January 31. Each was well attended in capacity-controlled settings.
Tuesday Talk offers there other topics this week:
- How will COVID grants impact your taxes?
- What are the COVID trends in the workplace? Sign up for a forum.
- The Steele County Economic Relief Grants application deadline is this Friday, February 12. Find out more about the program.
Owatonna's downtown has enjoyed some fun events this winter. The holiday cruise was a big hit and it wasn't all that cold. Check out some photos...
