In my opinion each championship should have all eyes watching like volleyball in the fall and boys and girls basketball in a few weeks. The athletes deserve it after their hard work getting to the title match.
In Class AAA no Section 1 teams made the Dirty Dozen list. Four Big Nine teams are in Lean and Mean category including Faribault, Rochester Mayo, Northfield and Owatonna.
Among the state's smallest schools the Medford Tigers have the highest ranking out of Section 2 at #7. In fact they are the only ranked team out of Section 2 in Class A. #2 Dover-Eyota, #10 Chatfield represent Section 1 among the Dirty Dozen with Caledonia/Houston, Kenyon-Wanamingo in the Lean and Mean.
This honor is long overdue in my opinion. Not only is Wayne good at working with kids on their wrestling moves but he is a great role model for youth. A dedicated family man who helps instill the value of good sportsmanship.
Section 1 (Southeast Minnesota) is loaded in each class. Section 2 is pretty stacked with great teams and wrestlers also. The tournament run is going to be awesome.
