A bill in the legislature that would have reduced the walleye limit from 6 to 4 was dropped in the latest versions of the environmental and natural resources bill. The windy and warm weather we saw Wednesday in the St. Cloud area wasn't helping local ice conditions thee last couple of days has improved those conditions. That according to Glen Schmitt from Outdoor News.

The bear hunting harvest was expected to be high this year. Glen Schmitt from Outdoor News joined me on WJON today. He says he is hearing that the hunting has been "phenomenal" for bears so far. Bear hunting starting September 1st and will continue through October 18th in Minnesota.

Glen Schmitt from Outdoor News joined me on WJON today. He says those planning on doing some duck hunting should do some more scouting because there is more shoreline this year due to the drought. Glen says his normal duck hunting location is filled in with cat tails and lily pads and it may be tough to get a boat into your usual spot.

Last year during the pandemic fishing license sales were at an all time high. Glen Schmitt from Outdoor News joined me on WJON this week. He says license sales this year were about the same as last year. Glen thinks many people got back into fishing last year and those have stuck with it this year.
