Chief Dienst commented, "This fire is suspicious but due to circumstances out of our control, determining a cause will be a challenge. No one was hurt in the incident and that's what matters most."
Faribault Fire Chief Dustin Dienst says about I-35 work, "Please slow down and pay attention to the road, especially around accidents and construction areas."
Both Rice and Steele Counties and the cities of Faribault and Owatonna are on the Everbridge Emergency Notification System. Citizens of those communities are asked to sign up for notifications.
Dienst says in his updated Media Release, "Installing the LED lamp iinto a fluorescent fixture is a mistake that could be made by anyone. Please ensure that you are installing the correct lamp into any light fixture."
In his News Release Dienst says, "The home suffered major fire, smoke and water damage. I am grateful the children in the home know what to do when they discovered the smoke. They alerted everyone inside which is why everyone escaped unharmed."
Fire Chief Dustin Dienst commented, “We are grateful that the occupants of the home escaped unharmed. These types of incidents are devastating at any time of the year, but even more so during the holiday season.”
KDHL spoke with the Faribault Fire Chief inquiring about the extent of damage. He did not say it was a total loss but did say the home suffered extensive damage.
