KDHL spoke with the Faribault Fire Chief inquiring about the extent of damage. He did not say it was a total loss but did say the home suffered extensive damage.

The Fire Chief does not have the authority to order a burning ban. Only the Sheriff or the DNR can do make that designation.

This year marks the 100th Fire Prevention Week.

The Faribault Fire Department was very busy this morning with a number of calls following lightning strikes.

According to the plaque, "Not long after the last burial in 1909 the cemetery had been abandoned." The graves of two Civil War Veterans and a War of 1812 Veteran lay buried there.

Over 1300 people were registered to participate in the events at the IRIS Turkey Trot. Scores of Faribault residents enjoyed a meal at the Eagles and scores more throughout the community received delivered meals

According to the Nature Conservancy you need to reuse the artificial tree for 20 years before the total energy used to produce it is less than the energy costs associated with a new real tree purchased each year.
