Stretch of Rochester That Seriously Needs Turn Lanes
This may be a little bit of a rant post, just a heads up. There are definitely parts of Rochester, MN where I'm wondering who planned the layout of the road. But there's one stretch in particular that I really scratch my head about.
Before I get into it, let me know if there's a specific road or portion of road in Rochester that you think could really use some work. We can complain together! Shoot me a message on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter. (@carlyrossonair)
There's one Rochester road that I drive nearly every day and each time the need for turn lanes is apparent. Many people drive this road. It's Broadway South. There's one particular chunk of Broadway South that really, badly needs right-turn lanes. You may know what I'm talking about.
The stretch I'm talking about is from the Ramada to Domino's (or 16th St. SW to 21st St. SW). I typically only notice the issue when I'm driving away from downtown, but holy cow is it a problem! Every time I'm on that road someone is using the shoulder to make a right-hand turn. Which is totally understandable in my book, you've got tons of traffic behind you. The last thing you want is for someone to not be paying attention on a busy road and cause a crash because they didn't see you were turning.
Because I am who I am, I try to see things from the other perspective. I don't know if it's just not humanly possible to make turn lanes there, or if it would cause more of a headache to put them in than to not have them at all. But UGH would it be nice to have right-turn lanes there!
