State Patrol- Alcohol Involved in Fatal Crash in Champlin
Chaplin, MN (KROC-AM News) - The State Patrol says one person was killed in an alcohol-involved three-vehicle crash on Highway 169 in the Twin Cities this afternoon.
The deadly crash was reported around 12:30 PM in Champlin. The State Patrol says 37-year-old Adam Madsen of Anoka was fatally injured when another vehicle went through the median and smashed into his car.
The State Patrol crash report indicates alcohol was detected in the driver of the other vehicle, who was identified as 58-year-old Jill Zetterwall of Maple Grove. She was transported to a hospital in Coon Rapids with non-life-threatening injuries.
Officials say she was traveling north on Highway 169 in the right lane and responded to a slowdown in traffic by veering into the left lane. The State Patrol says that caused her vehicle to clip the front of an SUV and the collision then sent Zetterwall's vehicle through the median and into the path of the victim's car.
The driver of the third vehicle involved in the crash was not hurt.
