The Minnesota Department of Transportation will remove spring weight restrictions in the south, southeast and metro frost zones on Friday, April 14. Spring weight postings will be removed in the central zone on April 17, but will remain in effect in the north-central and north frost zones. Weight restrictions are put on in the spring when the frost is coming out of the ground because heavy weights can cause a lot of damage to the roads.

I like to drive on nice smooth roads so I always pay attention to road restrictions. Well, another reason is I do not want to pay a fine. I have never gotten an over-weight ticket, but I have heard they can be painful, especially during road postings. So, road postings being removed could be another sign of spring. But it also is the start of another season, road construction!
