Southern Minnesota Auto Dealership Robbed & Set on Fire
Last night an Albert Lea auto dealership, Mason Auto Sales, was robbed and allegedly set on fire.
After a couple, who was out shopping for a new car, called about a fire, the Freeborn County Sheriff's Office was notified. This happened at about 4:20PM yesterday.
When officers got there, there was smoke coming from the roof. Thankfully, the woman who lives above the auto dealership was not home at the time. There were also 2 cars that had been stolen and a small black safe was stolen. The fire is being investigated as arson.
The safe contained about 80 vehicle titles and the two cars stolen were:
a green, 2008 Mercury Mountaineer, plate number 230WLR
and a blue, 2002 Dodge Ram, plate number is unknown.
The deputy that responded to the call found "three sets of keys in the parking lot about 50 feet from the door, and a side window to the building was smashed."
No one was injured during the robbery or in the fire. There are no suspects at this time.
