Rash of Burglaries Hits Dodge County
A series of home and car burglaries have hit rural Dodge County, according to a tweet from the Dodge County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday. The office indicated that many could have been prevented by locking vehicles and garages.
The Twitter account @DCSOSheriff offered several suggestions on preventing property crime and offered their non-emergency number to contact their dispatch office at 507-635-6200.
The tweet stated, "We've seen a handful of home burglaries and car thefts in the area recently...all rural homes. Most of these incidents could have been prevented by simply locking the vehicle and not leaving keys in it, and locking the home and garage."
The department advises people to have exterior lights on, remove valuables from vehicles or hide them if they must be left in a car, close the garage door and double check it at night, and report crimes or suspicious activity.
