Tornado Warning Issued for Olmsted County
Update: 2:09 p.m: The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Fillmore County until 3:15 p.m.
Update 1:35 p.m: The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Warning until 2:00 p.m. for Central Olmsted County in southeastern Minnesota. The NWS said a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Rochester, moving east at 20 mph. Tornado and quarter-size hail is possible.
The NWS said flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely.* This storm will be near Eyota around 2:00 PM. Other locations impacted by this tornadic thunderstorm include Chester, Highway 52 And 55th Northwest, Century High School, Highway52 And County 14, Little Valley, and Viola.
UPDATE: The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Dodge County until 2:15 p.m., Freeborn, and Steele Counties until 2:00 p.m., and Olmsted, Mower, and Winona Counties until 2:45 p.m. Fillmore County until 3:15 p.m.
La Crosse, WI (KROC-AM News) - Much of southeast Minnesota is under a severe thunderstorm watch until 7 p.m. Saturday.
The National Weather Service in La Crosse said a cluster of strong to severe storms will march east southeast across the area this afternoon. Strong, damaging wind gusts reaching as high as 70 mph are possible, along with large hail. The impacted areas include Dodge, Fillmore, Goodhue, Mower, Olmsted, Wabasha, and Winona Counties.
After Saturday’s active weather, the NWS is forecasting cooler and quieter weather for much of the upcoming week. Highs will be at or slightly below average with mostly dry conditions. The only risk of rain comes on Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday.
