Shooting In Austin Leaves One Person Dead, Others Injured
Austin, MN (KROC AM News) - One person was killed and an unknown number of others were hurt in a shooting in Austin early Saturday.
The Austin Police Dept. received a 911 call just after 1:00 am from the 100 block of 12th St NE “regarding a shooting with multiple victims.”
APD Capt. Todd Clennon says officers “found one adult male gunshot victim. Lifesaving measures were performed however the victim succumbed to the injury and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Officers further learned of others who were injured during the shooting.”
Clennon says the Minnesota BCA was contacted and is assisting in the investigation.
Clennon says “Based on evidence and witness interviews the police believe this was a targeted incident and that there is no ongoing threat to public safety.”
He says the name of the person who died “will be identified once the preliminary autopsy is complete and formal identification and family notification has taken place.”
