Shooters Roundup in Morristown is a Family Fun Event
Whether you enjoy looking at and shooting guns or not, family fun is the goal of the Shooters Roundup weekend at Ahlman's Guns in Morristown. My son used to count down the days to the event and invite a friend of two to go on the short drive to Morristown for the chance to shoot a variety of guns and get up close to some vintage military vehicles.
The event is August 25-26 from 9AM to 5PM each day. Admission cost varies from $10 with limited shooting included to $30, which includes many more shooting opportunities. It is free for children younger than 10 when accompanied by an adult. Parking is free.
Participants can try out a variety of new guns and shoot older models. The ground shakes when someone fires off the Civil War-ear Gatlin gun. One year my brother came along and jumped at the chance to test out a machine gun.
Several stages of old west melodrama entertainment are included along with two live bands, food courts and trick shooting demonstrations. A display of military vehicles is one of my favorite parts. We also have enjoyed the hunting dog demonstrations in the past.
While I am not much of a shooter, I like watching other take target practice and the scenario-shooting at various stations.
