School Bus Driver Appreciation Day
Today, February 28 marks the second School Bus Driver Appreciation Day in Minnesota. A time to say 'thank you' to a school bus driver. Governor Mark Dayton this morning issued a proclamation designating today as School Bus Driver Appreciation Day in Minnesota.
Keeping children riding a school safe is also a responsibility of motorists as well. Remember the law states when the flashing lights and the stop arm goes down on a school bus, motorists are required to stop at least 20 feet away. Make sure you wait till the lights go off and the arm goes up before proceeding. Youngsters can sometimes do things impulsively like make a mad dash across the road or street. Motorists should also increase the distance when following a bus during potentially dangerous weather such as ice or snow on the road.
Take time to thank a school bus driver today. They'll appreciate it.
