Rochester Post Bulletin Sold to Fargo-Based Newspaper Group
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Rochester’s daily newspaper is changing hands.
Fargo-based Forum Communications today announced it has acquired the Rochester Post-Bulletin from the Illinois-based Small Newspaper group, which purchased the Rochester newspaper in 1977. The terms of the deal, which is expected to be finalized June 1st, have not been disclosed.
An article in the Fargo Forum says Forum Communications is a family-owned enterprise that was founded in 1917 that owns over 50 publications, four TV stations and a number of other media-related businesses that operate in four states.
The company has indicated the purchase does not include the Post Bulletin offices and printing plant in downtown Rochester. It does include several magazines and the Post Bulletin’s SNG Research business. The Fargo Forum story on the deal says the printing of the Rochester paper will be shifted to Red Wing, where the company operates and prints the Red Wing Eagle newspaper.
