Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man, who was caught transporting a significant amount of marijuana four weeks after he was placed on probation for his most recent drug-related conviction, today entered into a plea deal with Olmsted County prosecutors.

32-year-old Quran Bennett admitted to a third-degree drug sales charge. It’s expected that a fifth-degree drug count and a related weapons charge will be dismissed when he is sentenced in June.

Bennett was arrested in October 2018 when police intercepted him near the I-90 and Highway 52 interchange. Rochester Police say he was returning from Chicago with 16 pounds of marijuana. Police also found two guns and two children the vehicle.

Bennett has a history of dealing drugs dating back to 2004. He was sentenced to 5 years in prison in 2007 for one conviction and was given a 78-month term in 2014 for selling crack cocaine. The probationary sentence resulted from his arrest earlier in 2018 when he was caught in possession of 7 pounds of pot.
