Rice County Vehicle Cedar Lake Breakthrough No Injuries
The Rice County Sheriff's Office reports a vehicle went through the ice on Cedar Lake in Shieldsville Township late Saturday night. The call came in at 10:46 p.m.
The driver was identified as Travis Robert Swedin, 32, of Faribault. There were three passengers, Cortney Amanda Swedin, 28, of Faribault, one juvenile male and one juvenile female. All excaped injury.
The description by Rice County Sheriff's Office:
"Rice County deputies were dispatched to a vehicle that had broken through the ice and was found by a local citizen submerged in Cedar Lake. The reporting party did not observe anyone near or around the vehicle at the time it was fround and it was unknown if it was occupied. Upon arrival, deputies located a minivan submerged in approximately 5-6 feet of water in the narrows between Cedar Lake and West Cedar Lake."
"Deputies were able to locate information on social media which led them to identifying and making contact with the driver and occupants of the vehicle. The driver and three passengers were all able to exit the vehicle safely and without injury after it broke through the ice prior to finally submerging. The Rice County Dive Team responded and barricaded the immediate area of thin ice around the vehicle.
