The Randolph Rockets had a slow start but ended with a 69-42 win at home against the  Kingsland Knights in Section 1A opening round action tonight.  A close game was blown open on a 13-0 run to end the first half.

The Rockets turned 5 consecutive turnovers into those points to take a  commanding 35-17 lead at halftime.  Turnovers were the story of the game with the Knights committing 22 turnovers which Randolph turned into 24 points.

Meanwhile the Rockets had 13 miscues resulting in 6 Kingsland points.  Senior Randolph point guard 6'3 Nick Drinken finished with 22 points including three 3 point baskets.  He was 2 for 3 at the free throw line.  Senior 6'4 Dane Ehleringer also hit three 3 point baskets on his way to 13 points.

Rockets senior 6'0 A.J. Weidner finished with 9 points connecting on 3 three point baskets.  Senior 6'4 Isaac Stoesz had 8 points.

Kingsland was led by senior 6'8 Brady Musel with 15 points.

The Knights finished their season 8-20.  Randolph is now 21-6.  The #3 seed Rockets play Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. against #6 seed Lyle/Pacelli at the Mayo Civic Auditorium in Rochester.

In other games tonight #1 seed Blooming Prairie rolled by United Christian Academy of Bloomington 70-30.  #8 Southland survived a 58-47 win with #9 Spring Grove.  #4 seed Schaeffer Academy of Rochester bested #13 Lanesboro 64-38.  #5 Grand Meadow beat #12 Leroy-Ostrander 74-51.

#2 Hayfield rolled over #15 Fillmore Central 89-57.  #7 Rushford-Peterson beat #10 Wabasha-Kellogg 59-49.

Wednesday night in the Mayo Civic Arena at 6:00 p.m. Blooming Prairie plays Southland.  At 7:30 p.m. it's Schaeffer Academy and Grand Meadow.

At 6:00 p.m. in the auditorium Hayfield meets Rushford-Peterson.
