Many summer festivals and plans have been cancelled this year because of COVID-19, but the virus won't stop the Hopkins Raspberry Festival!

The Hopkins Raspberry Festival has been a summer tradition for 85 years, and for the first time ever they are going digital! While most summer festivals are cancelling because of COVID-19, Hopkins wanted to find a way to keep the event going in a safe manner. The Raspberry Festival Committee announced the decision on their Facebook page.

"For the multitude of reasons we are all aware of, we cannot hold a typical festival this year. Our team is committed to holding a new kind of Hopkins Raspberry Festival this July that will be almost entirely virtual. Our team has worked hard to be creative, and quickly conceive new events to fulfill our mission during these circumstances."

According to Bring Me the News, the 86th annual Raspberry Festival will be held online, July 15-19th. To my knowledge this is the first Summer Festival in the nation that has gone completely digital! This will be something that I am interested and excited to see take place! Event organizers believe the event will be, "few, new, improvised, imperfect and orchestrated on a shoestring budget". All the events will be announced on the Hopkins Raspberry Festival website, which you can go to by clicking here!
