Owatonna’s New Homecoming Parade Route; Royalty Interviews
Harley the Husky. The Owatonna High School Marching Band. Floats filled with teams and high school clubs coming up with different ways to say, "Squash the Rockets." After a year off the OHS homecoming parade is back in 2021. Although, on a different route due to road construction through downtown Owatonna.
This year's parade will start near the Steele County Fairgrounds at Elm and Park and travel north on Elm to School Street near the high school. It is scheduled for Friday, October 8 at 1:30 pm. Mother Nature is even getting in on the fun with a startlingly warm day for early October.
Homecoming Queen Jenna Dallenbach and King Dylan Meiners were crowned at last Friday's coronation. The other finalists were Grant Achterkirch, Connor Ginskey, Jackson Hemann, Preston Meier, Julia Christenson, Ava Hess, Justice Holmes, and Lainie Rahn. Listen to interviews with most of the finalists below.
The other semifinalists included Lucas Jensen, Eli Knutson, Eli Spurgeon, Nick Williams, Taylor Bogen, Ty Creger, Lane Wagner, Janessa Moore, Olivia Herzog, Hillary Haarstad, Lexi Nelson, Lydia Nelson, Daniela Ortiz, and Ava Wolfe.
I had a blast speaking with (most) of the top ten royalty candidates. I get great joy in hearing about all the clubs and activities they are involved in. Writing stories for the Magnet, multiple Student Council members, robotics team, music, sports, Knowledge Bowl, and the list goes on.
