Owatonna Wrestler Named to USA Dream Team
Before becoming a Jackrabbit wrestler, Owatonna's Cade King has another high school meet to compete in. The three-time state finalist was recently named to Team USA for the Dream Team Classic to be held April 6 in Chicago.
King, who will compete at South Dakota State University, is the only Minnesotan on the team which will face the Illinois Dream Team at 6:30 pm Saturday. The meet can be seen on trackwrestling.com. King will face Abe Assad of Glenbard North at 182 pounds.
King is No. 11 rated in the nation and was a late addition to Team USA as an injury replacement. Assad in top-rated. Former Owatonna High School wrestling coach Scot Davis will coach King matside.
After a second place finish at the state meet, King was named Owatonna's Most Valuable Wrestler based on team points for the season with 295.5. His 232 career wins in tops in the long storied history of Owatonna wrestling. He led the team this season with 49 wins.

Owatonna had a previous wrestler compete in the program with Eli Ross being on Team Minnesota against a USA Dream Team in 2000. Ross defeated his opponent, a three-time state place winner from Arizona. Davis was the coach for the USA Team in 2009.
