Medford graduate Brent Yule spent a short time on the Owatonna High School football coaching staff under head coach Jeff Williams. He also spent several seasons with Northfield and longtime coach Bubba Sullivan. Yule says he learned plenty of each coach as he now implements his own style and approach as a first-year head coach for the Raiders.

Northfield is 2-2 in 2021 after earning just two wins combined the previous two seasons. Owatonna plays at the Raiders Friday, October 1 at 7 pm with 6:40 pregame coverage on AM 1390 KRFO / 94.7 FM. The Huskies are also 2-2. Each team is going with a first-year starter at quarterback. OHS will put sophomore Jacob Ginskey behind center. The Raiders go with junior Soren Richardson. Check out the preview with Jon Weisbrod at Owatonnafootball.com.

Blooming Prairie (4-0) hosts St. Clair/Mankato Loyola (3-1) in the Blossoms homecoming game at 7 pm on Kat Kountry 105 FM. Triton (3-1) holds their homecoming with St. Charles (1-3). Medford (0-4) travels to WEM (2-2).

NRHEG's homecoming contest is Saturday night at 7 pm. The Panthers (2-2) host top-ten rated GFW (4-0).

The top game of the night in southern Minnesota, and possibly in the state, is in Mankato, where No. 1-5A West (4-0) will host No. 6-5A Rochester Mayo (4-0).
