Owatonna Hockey Great Returns to Minnesota to Coach

Lindsay Macy knows how to see and develop hockey talent. I recall chatting with her at a high school holiday tournament a couple of years ago watching her alma mater Owatonna play. She analyzed plays and players as we talked about her hockey development school in Idaho.

After a successful two-season stint at Finlandia and earning NCHA Coach of the Year honors, Macy is returning to Minnesota to coach at the College of Saint Benedict (CSB). The Bennies feel they are on the verge of making a big advancement and feel Macy is the one to lead it.

"Bennie hockey is in a position where we are ready to make a jump to the next level," says CSB Athletic Director Kelly Anderson Dierks in a news release. "Lindsay is a coach who is on the way up in her coaching career, and putting those two things together is exciting for the future of CSB hockey."

Macy coached in the girls and boys programs at Owatonna High School after a playing career that set school scoring records that won't be matched. She played college hockey at the University of Wisconsin and Minnesota State University in Mankato and skated for the Minnesota Whitecaps and the USA U22 team.

She coached at a hockey academy in Idaho before taking the position with Finlandia in Michigan.

"First and foremost, I want to thank Kelly and staff for this opportunity," Macy says in the release. "I am excited to start working with the student-athletes and staff at Saint Ben's to continue the growth of a great program. I look forward to getting back to my roots to help continue to grow the game that has given me so much in the great state of hockey."

The Bennies made their second-ever MIAC tournament field after the 2021-22 season, finishing sixth in the league with a 10-12-1 record. Macy's duties officially begin on May 16, 2022.
