After social media video surfaced online of what appears to be an Owatonna Dairy Queen employee throwing a customer's order onto the ground outside, the ownership group, Fourteen Foods, posted to the Owatonna Dairy Queen's Facebook page indicating that it was now investigating what happened in that video and the actions leading up to that point. Fourteen Foods also stated that they are taking "this matter seriously".

Fourteen Foods shares your concerns about what was shown in the video this past Sunday. We are in the process of conducting an internal investigation, including talking with employees at the restaurant, reviewing security footage, and talked with the customer in the video yesterday. Know that we are taking this matter extremely seriously. The store will remain closed until the investigation is complete. Our number one goal is to be able to continue to serve the Owatonna community to the best of our ability.

The video, which was recorded from a Snapchat message, showed what appears to be a pair of Dairy Queen workers going to the front door and asking a waiting customer if this was their order, then dumped the order onto the ground. After the food was on the ground the customer fell hard onto the sidewalk, either in an attempt to kick at the bag or walk away, which caused both employees to laugh.

According to the Owatonna Dairy Queen's Facebook page, "Fourteen Foods is a multi-unit owner and operator of 230+ DQ Grill & Chill® restaurants and Dairy Queen Braziers across 13 states."
