Another Owatonna business has made a sizeable donation to the construction of the new high school. School district officials announced the gift this week after also holding a check presentation in a downpour during a high school football game recently. Home Federal Savings Bank "has joined many other local businesses in support of the new high school for Owatonna," states a news release from the district.

Home Federal Savings Bank Market President Brad Vettrus states, "We are committed to giving back to our communities and are proud to support the Owatonna Public Schools. The education of our young people and preparing them for the future, will help ensure the continued success of Owatonna and its businesses." The donation is $50,000.

Owatonna Public Schools Superintendent Jeff Elstad said, "We continue to be thankful for the generosity of our local businesses and continue to be amazed by the pride felt by all who live and work within our community."

The news release continues, "In addition, Home Federal Savings Bank will be placing two ATM machines in the new high school at no expense to the district."

Construction of the new high school in southeast Owatonna "is making remarkable progress." During a recent Coffee and Conversation forum with district officials, it was reported that construction progress was slightly ahead of schedule due to the dry summer.

The new school is scheduled to open for students in the fall of 2023. View updates on construction on the New High School tab on the district's website.
