The Owatonna girls hockey team takes its new No. 19A ranking into action Thursday, December 3, at 7PM at Four Seasons against defending Big Nine champ Rochester John Marshall.

The Rockets are 4-0 to start the Big Nine schedule this season and have gone 42 games without a conference loss, dating back to the 2012-13 season. The streak (40-0-2) has survived a pair of close calls this season, 3-2 in overtime against Mayo and 2-1 over Austin. Owatonna is on a three-game winning streak that includes a 2-1 win over highly ranked Orono. The Huskies are 5-2 overall.

Section 1 teams in the latest Let's Play Hockey girls hockey rankings include Red Wing at No. 8 and Northfield at No. 20. Dodge County is 12th in the Class AA poll. Lakeville South and Lakeville North are both ranked.

Owatonna's boys hockey team goes to John Marshall for a 7:30PM game Thursday. Huskies coach Josh Storm considers the Rockets (1-0) a preseason conference favorite. Owatonna is 1-2 (1-1 in the Big Nine). Section 1AA teams Lakeville North and Farmington are both ranked in the new poll. The Panthers are down to No. 8 after suffering a season-opening loss to Stillwater. North had an unbeaten season in 2014-15.

OHS boys basketball plays at Mankato West (0-1) at 7:30PM on KRFO AM 1390. Owatonna is 1-1. Four Big Nine teams are ranked in the new Minnesota Basketball News poll. Rochester John Marshall is seventh in AA. Northfield is No. 2AAA. Mankato East is fifth. Red Wing is eighth. The Wingers host the Raiders on Friday night.

The Huskies wrestlers open their dual meet season Thursday night against Rochester Mayo at 7PM with the coverage on Kat Kountry 105FM. Owatonna finished second at the Faribault individual tournament to open the season on Saturday.

Other local Thursday sports action includes the Meford boys basketball team playing at Cleveland. Blooming Prairie girls basketball hosts Grand Meadow. The NRHEG wrestlers host Blooming Prairie. Triton entertains Hayfield and Byron in a triangular.
