New Big Nine Team Enters MBBN State Girls Rankings

The Minnesota Basketball News latest state rankings of girls high school basketball teams includes a new Big Nine Conference school.  The Mankato East Cougars are ranked #20 in Class 3A joining crosstown rival Mankato West #12, Austin #5 and Red Wing #6.

DeLaSalle is the top 3A girls team.  Section 2 is loaded with Marshall #7, Waconia #8, Hutchinson #14, St. Peter #17 in addition to the two Mankato schools.  The largest schools have five teams from the South Suburban Conference among the state's top 16.

Hopkins is currently riding a big schools record 45 game winning streak and remains atop the Class 4A rankings with Farmington #2.  The other South Suburban schools include Rosemount #6, Burnsville #12, Lakeville North #15 and Shakopee #16.

Class 2A has four Hiawatha Valley League teams among the top 19.  Rochester Lourdes is #4, Goodhue #8, Stewartville #18 and Lake City #19.  Other area schools include Belle Plaine #12 and Waseca #11.  Sauk Centre is the top ranked 2A girls basketball team.

Class 1A boasts two Gopher Conference teams in the top ten.  Blooming Prairie #5 and Waterville-Elysain-Morristown #9.  Minneota is on top.
