St Paul (KROC AM News) - COVID-19  testing sites at Mayo Clinic and elsewhere in Minnesota have been super busy in recent days.

The Sunday report from the Minnesota Dept. of Health on covid activity in the state shows around 70,000 tests were confirmed Friday and Saturday. They found nearly 4,000 new positive cases, continuing a recent trend of high numbers in both categories. Friday’s number of 2268 was the second-highest daily total since the pandemic began.

The report shows 35 more covid-related deaths over the two days with four in southeast Minnesota: two in Mower County and one each in Rice and Winona counties.

As of Saturday, nearly 2.7-million covid tests had been confirmed and they produced close to 139,000 positive results.

The number of Minnesotans who had been tested had risen to almost 1.8-million, nearly a third of the state’s population.
