A man who went missing from Northfield in mid-November has been found dead, according to an update from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA).

42-year-old Joseph Camplin hadn't been seen or heard from since Nov. 16. At the time authorities were concerned about his overall welfare because of health concerns. The BCA reported today that his body was found in rural Dakota County.

The original missing person report from the Northfield Police Department stated that Camplin liked to take walks at night but normally returned home.

On January 6, 2019, at about 2:00 p.m., the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a deceased male located in a wooded area in the 2400 block of 320th St. W. in Waterford Township. A hunter located the deceased. Northfield Investigators worked with DCSO Deputies and the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office at the scene. NAFRS firefighters also responded to assist. Today, the Medical Examiner’s Office positively identified the deceased as the missing person, Joseph Camplin. No foul play is suspected at this time.

The Northfield Police Department is asking the public to please respect the privacy of the family as they deal with their loss.
