Missing Faribault Man Dies After Being Found in River

Faribault, MN (KROC-AM News)- Police in Faribault say a man pulled from a river after being reported missing by his family has died.

A news release from the Faribault Police Department says officers were dispatched to a missing person report shortly after 5 p.m. Friday. The man’s family told police he took his dogs out two hours prior to the call and was overdue for his return. 

Authorities say family members became alarmed when they found one of the man’s dogs returned to his home visibly wet. The family found the second dog at TeePee Tonka Park and officers summoned the Faribault Fire Department after finding evidence indicating the man may have fallen into the Straight River. 

Firefighters found the man, identified as 52-year-old Jesse Decoux, lying face down in the open water about 30 minutes after he was reported missing. Emergency responders began life-saving measures at the scene and Decoux was transported to a Faribault Hospital before being flown to Hennepin County Medical Center  in critical condition. 

He was pronounced dead at the Minneapolis hospital late Friday night. Authorities say Decoux’s disappearance and recovery are under investigation and that an autopsy has been ordered to determine his cause of death.
